Pro's and Con's of Affirmative Action

f Affirmative Actionùproviding educational and employment opportunities for qualified members of minoritiesùis certainly to be applauded as a measure of the programÆs worth. Although dissenters complain that Affirmative Action students are unqualified and tend to fail, studies have not borne this out. In most cases, the program appears to be doing what it should doùpermitting those who really merit entrance to be entered into colleges and universities where they can develop their skills and give back to their communities.

Although it ostensibly means well, Affirmative Action has brought with it a plethora of controversies and problems. These are primarily due to the ambiguity surrounding its intent and the deleterious effects on those who are not protected by it.
