Use of Toxic Substances

This is an excerpt from the paper...

Argument: We Should All Reduce Our Use of Toxic Substances

There is a critical problem in our nation with toxic substances in our food, drinking water, homes, and natural environment. These toxic substances can cause illness, weaken our immune systems, and can even result in death, especially in those most affected by the problem: the elderly, those with compromised immune systems, children, and pets. I discovered the seriousness of this issue when my dog developed diabetes as well as a life-threatening liver problem after being exposed to poison. Although she threw up the poison and was given medication to cleanse her body of its residue, her liver began failing, and she developed so much pain that she could not bear to be petted. She began vomiting much of her food and appeared unlikely to survive. Only after treatment with nutraceuticals relieved some of the toxic burden on her liver did she recover her health; she remained diabetic, however. Every toxic substance found in what we eat, wear, breathe, walk on, or come into contact with in any way is absorbed into our bodies where it puts an added load on our livers. The liver attempts to rid the body of poisons, but when it becomes overloaded, it can no longer protect us from them, and diseases set in. If exposure to toxins continues, eventually the liver itself will become diseased. For these reasons, we should all reduce our use of toxic substances.
