In other words, everyone dances at all times whether they are performing rehearsed, intricate steps and gestures or simply walking on a city street. CunninghamÆs performances remained firmly in the context of rehearsed, intentionally expressive movements but he used methods chance such as dice or a flip of a coin to determine the use of the elements of the dance. CunninghamÆs work played a dual role in the development of post-modern dance. It was both a source of inspiration for further exploration and a point of authority from which to depart.
