it acknowledges its inherent bolstering of cultural heritage with the consequent ability or capacity to mobilize people for social change and action. However, it also feels that popular religion can alienate people from reality and the need for it to change as well as the techniques and methods that must be used to implement change. There is also a concern that the religious foundation that fuels and maintains popular religion can lead away from revolution and toward an acceptance of one's status as poor, feeling that poverty is the will of God for one's life. Further, there is some concern that the minds of the poor can be too grounded in concerns for personal safety and religious salvation to actually take actions needed for change.
