Kepler himself has not been above this controversy. His own work drew on that of Tycho Brahe, but Kepler did not gain full access to Tycho's data until after the latter's death. Isaac Newton drew heavily on Kepler's own work, yet failed to acknowledge that fact when he published his Principia Mathematica. During Tycho's life, he and Kepler disagreed on the most fundamental issue-Tycho maintained a geocentric view of the solar system while Kepler favored the heliocentric perspective. There were other differences, as well.
