2 a Filippo Lippi's Annunciation and Seven Saints are shaped as if they would be fitted into the space below a vaulted arch in a church. They were probably placed over doorways, because if there was a whole wall available, it is much more likely that the arch and the rest of the wall would have been filled with a single composition.
