3.What is African Consensus and why is it significant?
The term "consensus," at its very basic level, means to agree or to come to an agreement or be in harmony with another. To govern by consensus is to come to some sort of agreement mutually beneficial to all parties before taking any action. The term, "African Consensus" is important because it is the process of Africans finding an African solution for an African problem. There is no implication, in this term, of relying on outside Western nations who have been historically involved in Africa only for their own benefit. No former Dutch, British, Belgian, or American "masters" or conquerors are involved in deciding major issues in Africa. Africans are taking the leadership needed to decide their own fate. That is the significance of African Consensus.
