The literature reviewed in this proposal demonstrates the dependency of the United States on foreign sources of fossil fuels for its energy supplies. In the report of the research perforemed for the proposed study, literature will also be reviewed which describes the environmental issues associated with a continued use of fossil fuels for energy production.
