The overall document is not concise. In places it rambles on and is redundant. Excess words were used to construct some phrases which could have been more shortened by selection of the proper adverb or adjective. In a number of places there are grammatical errors, where verbs do not follow the noun or an incorrect modifier was used.

There are at least two problems with the first sentence. "Every race... has been the representative of some great idea -- one or more -- which has given direction to the nation's life...." (lines 1-3) The author used dashes to set off "one or more" when there was no reason to do this for special empahsis, clarification or effect.
