Criminal Activity Associated With Cocaine Use
In 1989, 13.7 percent of the individuals arrested and convicted of a crime were under the influence of cocaine at the time the offense was committed (Bureau of Justice Statistics, 1991). This level represented a sharp increase of the 5.5 percent in 1983. Of the individuals arrested and convicted for a crime in 1989, 14.2 percent has used cocaine daily during the month prior to the date the offense was committed, up from 6.4 percent in 1983.
