Regardless of which theory is adhered to in respect to personality formation, personality disorders definitely appear to be orders that are engendered within individuals via socialization, not heredity, “Dysfunctional or maladaptive ways of handling personality development result in a personality disorder. There is no proof that any person has even been born with a personality disorder, rather, one grows into the disorder by their lack of adjustment and development of a healthy personality” (Baron, 1997: 575).
