The implication in the above passage is that the criminal justice system is partly to blame for women being blamed when they are the victim of rape. Reasons for this exist. Many women falsely accuse men of rape, only later to recant their tale. However, more often than not, the women are not lying. Still, society even aids in helping place blame of victims of rape. For example, the common mentality believes there are bad men out there who will rape. Women are smaller and less able to defend themselves against men. Therefore, women should know better than to wear alluring clothing, walk outside after dark in secluded places, or stop at an ATM late at night in an empty parking lot.
