hat white men earn a great deal more than minority men, who in turn earn more than white women. On the lowest level of earning capacity are minority women (Burstein, p. 367-91).

In addition to not receiving as high salary as men do and not being able to find jobs, which match their level of education and qualifications, women are subject to more subtle pressures in the corporate world. These pressures have created barriers in such areas as performance standards, boss-subordinate-peer relation-ships and in opportunities for promotion.

Numerous studies have shown that negative stereotypes about women in society are carried into the corporate structure and they adversely affect women's careers. The problems addressed by the proposed research will be to examine these stereotypes taking into consideration the attitudes of the various groups of workers

involved and how they feel women managers are being treated in the corporate structure.
