This philosophy of the endless recycling of goodness is used in managing the company and in maintaining labor relations. For example, repatriation of profits from overseas operations was at one time a large issue at YKK. Tadao stood firm that the company would not remove profits from the host countries; instead, YKK would accept the interest payments on the investment and no more. YKK sometimes builds its plants in less convenient rural areas where logistics increase the cost of doing business. However, the site may be located where the plant can do the most good, not necessarily where it can maximize profits. These decisions stem from the basic corporate philosophy.
