Obviously, Kub's (1992) findings do not support the notion that a simple measure of life events adequately conceptualizes the life-stress process. Therefore, clinicians and relevant others who are basing their diagnoses solely on the number and/or intensity of stressful life events in the adolescent's life may be subject to some diagnostic failures.
