The purpose of this study was to expand the existing knowledge base in this area by investigating the effect of an outdoor adventure education program on the academic achievement of a sample of tenth-grade students who are at risk for educational failure. The developed program involved having students spend three days in a wilderness setting with follow-up one-day trips being taken once every two weeks. The program lasted an entire school term.
