Numira (pronounced new-meera) is a heavy, grooving power trio that draws on elements of both Seattle grunge and 70's hard rock. Using thought provoking lyrics and an arena-sized sound, the multi-talented team of John Stack, Tim Stack and Jeff Walendy create a totally unique blend of music.
The history of band Numira is as diverse as their music. After touring the East Coast, Tim Stack (drums and vocals) relocated to Los Angeles in (insert year here) and formed a successful club band with his brother John. John Stack (Vocals and guitars) had studied at Berklee College of Music and played the Boston club scene before also moving to LA in 1992. At that time, this powerful brother duo garnered such accolades as winning the national Jaegermeister Rock Hunt and being voted one of the best independent bands of the mid 90's.
The third member of Numira, Jeff Walendy (Bass and vocals), hails from San Diego where he was a founding member of the seminal alternative and Cargo/Headhunter recording artist Treble Hook. To expand his musical horizons, in (insert year here), Jeff moved to LA. However, it was not until late 2000, after Tim and Johns' project disbanded, that Jeff joined up with the brothers and Numira was born.
Numira crashed the music with a bang as it entered the studio with Mothers of Invention/Frank Zappa bassist Arthur Barrow who engineered their first demo in late 2000. Since then, the trio has been playing the LA club circuit, gaining a steady
stream of recognition as well as a solid following of devoted fans. In 2001, Numira competed in Burst Productions "Leader of the Pack" battle of the bands in which over 50 of the brightest, most talented bands fought one another for the reigning title. Numira won First Place by a significant margin and became LA's "Leader of the Pack".
