A research project for this topic might involve investigating recent mergers and examining how the news organizations associated with those mergers fared. Layoffs, reduction of resources, and editorial viewpoints before and after the mergers could be studied and evaluated.

Objectivity in the news and bias in TV news is not a new area of debate. However, the war in Iraq has brought both of these areas into sharper focus. In Iraq, the only access that American journalists had during the war was to be embedded with American military units.
