In addition, as the United States' population has begun to grow older there has been considerable expansion within the home health care industry. This growth has also created an increased need for pharmacists. When patients are cared for at home rather than in a hospital or nursing facility, the advice of a physician isn't always available. It is pharmacist, therefore, who is becoming increasingly relied upon to provide the expertise required for patient counseling. Finally, some of the current changes in pharmacy may be due to the fact that it has become a popular career choice for women (Muzzin et al., 1994, p. 39). In many ways, women tend to be more nurturing than men. I know that I am a people-person. I enjoy talking with people and tend to be out-going to the point of being extroverted.
