Based on the foregoing, it should be noted that: a) both dementia and depression are associated with diagnostic difficulties; and b) with proper diagnoses, there are many cases in which the conditions can be alleviated or remediated. This fact makes it imperative that diagnoses of both conditions be accurate.

The proposed research explores the diagnostic efficacy of dementia and depression in a sample of older and elderly people living in home-care settings.
