Computer Art

ly believes that the computer is a tool for an artist to use. The importance of art history, mythology, and the rituals of many different cultures permeates the images of his art works (Trachtman 65). He and other artists working with computer-generated or -enhanced art works agree that the technology which makes their art possible should not become the focus of the art work. True art must demonstrate through inspiration and then communicate to the audience what being human means. This need is even more important with the increasing use of computers to separate people from face-to-face contact and the increasing alienation felt by individuals caused by an increasingly technological world.

Other artists are finding other ways in which to use computers in their work. Harcourt Brace and Simon & Schuster's initial children's releases with computer-drawn pictures were released last September (Lodge 40).
