As this is a qualitative study, there is no hypothesis to be tested. Instead, the study makes the assumption that the spread of globalization and the free market capitalist system across the world cannot be stopped and thus it is inevitable that nations that do not adapt to this new world order are doomed to remaining Third World countries. As well, because of the qualitative nature of the study, there is no formal Theoretical Framework chapter behind the hypotheses (although a set of theories and models are examined in the literature review and further in the findings chapter.

The methodology to be used in the study is a qualitative oneùin the form of a comparative case study for the analysis of economic growth and the disparity of such growth.
