The dramatic rise in sex trafficking and slavery in Vietnam has also caused a dramatic rise in the number of cases of sexually transmitted diseases, particularly HIV and AIDS. Part of the explanation for this is that many children and women in the sex trade business do not have access to health care or prevention measures.
