It is important to recognize that all three of these world religions are prophetic religions that depend on revelations from God through the voice of the prophets. All three religions acknowledge the ancient prophets of Israel (Abraham, Isaac, and so on) as messengers of God. Islam alone accords prophetic status to Muhammad. Islam does acknowledge Jesus Christ as a prophet while rejecting the Christian doctrine of the Trinity. Additionally, all three religions identify God as eternal and infallible as well as the creator and ultimate judge of all people. Alone among these three world religions, Christianity recognizes the existence of saints, or the individuals whose behavior has been pleasing to God (Fisher 1999, 296).
Another similarity between these three religions is that each identifies itself as comprised of ôpeople of the bookö (Fisher 1999, 274). What this means is that each religion bases its ecclesiastical and doctrinal protocols on the revealed word of God. Islam has the QurÆan, which consists of the revelations given to Muhammad by God.
