In this case it is possible for a manager to succeed without all of the necessary skills. Also, a manager who knows how to choose experts to advise him may also be able to succeed in a business with which he is not particularly familiar.

An excellent example of the latter situation is the top office of any government. Politicians are people who bring teams together to help achieve agendas. Very few presidents have any idea how to manage the Internal Revenue Service, but a successful president knows how to find someone who can do the job well.

I do not agree that managers should do everything that they can to enhance the job satisfaction of there employees. It is the job of the manager to make the employees productive, and thus earn money for the owners of the company.
