Should African American Voters Have Offered More Support to Hillary Clinton on the Basis of Obligation, Proprietary or Expediency Considerations?
One answer that would seem to satisfy all three criteria (obligation, propriety, expediency) is that African-American women should have given Hillary Clinton more support because of her gender. Specifically, it might be claimed that these voters should have supported her out of an obligation to their own gender. It can also be claimed that because she was of the same gender, she had a certain proprietary characteristic that mandated more support from them. Finally, it could be claimed that her candidacy itself served the greater good of overcoming sexism and that because of this; African American women should have supported her on this basis as well.
