Topic 1: KCC/Safat is a company that is ripe for revolutionary change. According to a recent analysis, it needs to develop a business strategy, a mission and vision, needs brand building and an image makeover, must develop a sales and marketing department, needs a new pricing strategy, has to address high operating costs, should improve its liquidity position, and needs a better organizational and management structure. This paper will provide a complete conceptual makeover for the company from the top down, addressing each of these areas. The result will be a transformation plan that re-purposes KCC/Safat and restructures it into an organization that can survive these difficult economic times. To accomplish this, an analysis of the current organization and its structure, processes, and workflows will be performed, research and generic benchmarking will be conducted, and a plan will be generated that proposes to resolve KCC/Safat's issues and remake it as an efficient, integrated company.
Topic 2: KCC/Safat needs to undergo massive change in order to compete in the 21st-century environment. However, change can be extremely disruptive and if not managed properly can result in more disadvantages than advantages. This paper will utilize Prastacos, Söderquist, Spanos, and Van Wassenhove's (2002) integrated framework developed for managing change in the new competitive landscape as a basis for designing a change management system for KCC/Safat. Their framework addresses the new competitive landscape in which companies that survive are flexible, innovative, have significant internal capabilities, and maintain information and communication technologies that are equal to the tasks they must perform.
