Disseminating Evidence for Postpartum Hemorrhage
The results of the project on postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) can be disseminated to key stakeholders and to the greater nursing community in a variety of ways. The strategy in this project will be to disseminate the results to the key stakeholders by means of both verbal communication in the form of a post-project oral presentation and by written communication in the form of a brief report. For dissemination to the greater nursing community, the methods will include publication, podcasts, journal clubs, and the media.
Key stakeholders will want and need to be informed about the project so that they can incorporate the new protocol into their practice. An oral presentation by one or more faculty members can acquaint stakeholders with the protocol and the project, describe how it was executed, and explain the evidence-based results and the way the protocol will be implemented. The presentation can be in the form of a panel presentation in which each faculty member on the panel provides information on a different aspect of the new process (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2010, p. 358). Through the panel presentation, stakeholders will see multiple faculty members associated with the protocol, which in itself will provide a certain measure of endorsement for it.
The written report to stakeholders will include the streamlined version of the process that was provided to participants on a laminated card, as well as an explanation of the protocol and the project. It will emphasize the reasons the protocol was needed and the evidence showing that it is effective.
Dissemination to the greater nursing community will include dissemination via publication, podcasts, journal clubs, and the media. Publication will take place primarily in nursing journals and nursing magazines but can also occur on journal web sites and other web sites related to nursing. Proc...
