Freud interpreted the fact that Dora related the two incidents to him in the reverse order of their occurrence as an indication that something unnatural was troubling Dora. He thought that her behavior was a manifestation of hysteria even at the age of fourteen because her own sexual responses and fantasies aroused feelings of disgust in her. He interpreted her response as a reversal of affect (Freud, 1953). Dora had told Freud that, since the occurrence of the office incident, she would, from timetotime, feel pressure on the upper part of her body from Herr K.'s embrace.
