This article is also valuable in that it provides sufficient information to permit organizations to structure their own DSS based on the incorporation of an expert system. What the article does not sufficiently emphasize, however, is the difficulties that are likely to be encountered in formulating the decision rules for such a system. The decision rules used in the project reported in the article are straightforward and easily understood. To a great extent, however, these rules were susceptible to subjective selection, which means that the potential for disagreement among decisionmakers could be great.
