Women were not represented in upperlevel management at the organization serving as the focus for this study at levels commensurate with (1) the rate of participation by women in the national workforce, (2) the overall proportion of women found in upperlevel management in the American economy, (3) the proportion of female employees among all employees at the focus organization, or (4) the proportion of women in the middle and lowerlevel management tiers at the focus organization.
