A true spiritual experience is always rooted in the universal vision of mankind. Beyond the apparent diversity of the physical phenomena, there is a perfect unity”. For these and other reasons forthcoming, to me Hindu Dharma provides the greatest option for spiritual growth that lends meaning to the reality of human existence. This essay will now explore various concepts of Hindu Dharma in greater detail, in order to demonstrate why I perceive it in such a fashion.

The association of atman or spirit with the physical body provides individuality. The goal of Hindu Dharma is achieving the balanced fulfillment of one’s spiritual and physical needs. The mechanistic view of the world adopted for the past few centuries has turned human beings away from relationships with other beings, nature and the Godhead. This is because all political, economic, environmental and social issues are viewed in a fragmentary manner that encourages human beings to solve problems with a limited perspective. Excellence is the ultimate goal of Hindu Dharma, but it is the balanced physical/spiritual excellence to which this refers not a materialistic of competitive excellence. As Pandit discusses, “Without adequate attention to manifest the divine power that lies dormant within every individual, one is left to suffer when stripped of material prosperity, titles or powers. While competitiveness does enhance individual skills, lack of basic character and human values cannot be replaced by personal skills”. Sharing, caring and loving in an effort to bring the best out of other beings without regard for competition is the kind of excellence within Hindu Dharma.
