I believe no matter how strongly one is interested in a field of study that they will experienced a higher degree of development in their profession and their personal life if they pursue a balance of interests, both professional and personal. To this end, I participated in many extra-curricular activities while attending college. I was the Senate Board Secretary for the Campus Government at Kenyon State College. My duties and responsibilities included acting as a liaison between students, faculty and administrators in matters of general concern to the College. I was also actively involved in the formation of regulatory boards responsible for supervising campus activities, in addition to being part of the legislative group who enacted legislation governing student life and extracurricular activities. I was also an active member of the A.D.E.L.A.N.T.E., a Latino cultural group. As a member I participated in the sharing of the culture, customs and lifestyles of many different Latino populations in addition to assisting in the promotion and awareness of Latino Americans on campus. I also helped in the organization of campus wide events, such as sponsoring dance troop performances and other activities. I was also a member of the Neuroscience Board for Students, where neuroscience majors discussed and planned their current and future activities. I also played a role in the M.A.C.K.S. INTEREST IN YALE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Most people would more than likely be interested in a school like the Yale School of Medicine because of its prestigious academic and professional reputation, the hallowed list of alumni who have graduated from its program, the state of the art research environment, and the personalized attention and instruction. However, I am interested in Yale School of Medicine because I know that these surface qualities are as respected as they are because of the pride, commitment to excellence and serious attitude toward learning that exists at Yale. Further, my sister is an excellent scholar and she is currently a senior at Yale School of Medicine. Most people might want to attend Yale with a sister who is a senior because of the sheer fact that a relative has done so. However, my sister is very discriminating in her life choices, an excellent scholar and my best friend. Her ethics and personal character are such that if she did not truly believe in Yale School of Medicine as an outstanding institution she would have little hesitation in telling me so.
