The research, much like the topic, can be provided for you or can be completely left up to you. Many professors will assign you specific research, either the textbook(s) from class or specific articles or essays. Also much like the topic, in order to get an “A” grade, you must incorporate ALL RESEARCH specified into your paper. As an example, say the professor provides the following list of research:Organizational Behavior (Class textbook) Use 3-5 journal articles dealing with your topic A maximum of 1 electronic Web source No research more than three years old In examining the research specified above, in order to get an “A” grade, you must make certain you fully incorporate what is asked for and avoid incorporating anything that is not asked for. For instance, you must include concepts and/or quotations to support your contention(s) from your class textbook. Also, you must use 3-5 journal articles. Even though it is obvious this means not 1, 2, or 7 articles, you would be surprised how often writers do not comply with this instruction. So, too, these articles MUST BE from journals, not newspapers, magazines, or pseudo-journals like Psychology Today and the like. Failure to follow these kinds of specific research instructions will result in a lower grade.

Presently more than 5,000 babies – or one in 750 – are born with FAS annually (Fetal 1999, 1). Fetal Alcohol Effects (FAE) is a less severe form of FAS, but studies show that one in six women of childbearing age may drink enough to present a hazard to their unborn infants (Fetal 1999, 1).
