wn, and questions may be misinterpreted. Therefore open-ended questions will also be used to allow for subjects to answer questions in a more complete and detailed manner. These questions will have the potential to reveal additional information that may not have been anticipated by the experimenter. Answers to these questions will be presented in a narrative form to be qualitatively analyzed by the researcher and validated by the student-participants.
Subjects will be a minimum of 25 male and 25 female high school athletes chosen from those who volunteer to participate in the study. The sample will be chosen from a local Georgia high school. All subjects will agree to participate in the study.
Academic Study Time and Academic Goals Questionnaire
The Academic Study Time and Academic Goals Questionnaire, constructed by the investigator, consists of four parts. Part I includes the following demographic questions related to ethnicity, gender, age, grade, family income level (SES), type of athletic participation, and number of years as a high school athlete:

Part II contains questions about academic study time (amount of time spent on homework to include time spent on class projects, reports, research, or studying for tests) and academic goals (goals to complete college preparatory courses, finish high school, and apply to college or higher education institution, including trade schools). For this section the participant provides a numeric response in hours, to questions related to homework. Questions are as follows:
