Assuming that the applicant is applying for a job in marketing, appearing in a conservative set of clothes would be a good idea. Appearing well groomed again fulfills the parameters of company culture. An applicant should stand tall, offer an affirming handshake, and look the interviewer straight in the eye, but not over do it. The idea here is to appear acceptable and positive from the very beginning (Winning, 1996).

When the interviewer introduces his or herself, the applicant should make note of his or her name. Answers to questions should be candid but not blunt. Responses should be with well thought out ideas, spoken slowly and thoughtfully, and the interviewer's name ought to be used when possible.
