The prevalence of aneurysms in those with asymptomatic polycystic kidney disease and family history of aneurysms shows a 20 percent incidence for this population. Other studies show a relationship between positive family history of aneurysms without the kidney disease. Evidence implies that aneurysm prevalence increases with age which suggests a dynamic process of aneurysm formation (5).

Medical intervention at this early point may treat the aneurysm and avoid major hemorrhage and associated morbidity or mortality. Other terms used to describe this "warning leak" are "sentinel bleed,", "sentinel headache,", "minor leak,", and "warning headache" (4:1558). These symptoms are reported as happening before a major SAH in 5 percent to 70 percent of patients (average 40 percent). Around half of these patients seek medical attention before the major SAH and many are misdiagnosed (16 percent to 60 percent). Those correctly diagnosed are less likely to deteriorate and achieve a better outcome (4). Medical evidence regarding th
