In their conclusion, the authors evaluate the method of indexing they used. They candidly admit that "The Central Business Index Method is not presented as a absolute and final answer to the problem of delimiting the CBD, but rather as a first step in that direction" (221). They go on to point out the limitations of their study, including the fact that their boundaries should not be seen as a definitive ct-off point for the CBD in any particular city. Also, they studied only cities of a limited size, and they question how effective their approach would be when applied to larger cities.

The study is somewhat obsolete due to the changes that have occurred in these Districts in the almost forty years since the study was conducted.
