This is serious competition, but not overwhelming competition. None of the sites analyzed have all the elements of the NSS business model, nor does it have the concept of our "virtual corporation." NSS has structured its company using the Virtual Corporation model, which enables it to be flexible and responsive in order to meet the various needs of our valued clients (Barnatt, 1997). This flexibility lets us integrate our clients existing systems and programs with new and evolving technology such as Video Conferencing, Internet, Intranet and Electronic Commerce.
McGee (2000) describes the condition of Information Technology, pointing out that it has directly contributed to the rise in productivity across all U.S. industries in recent years. "Just a few years ago economists questioned the effects of technology on productivity. However [in March 2000] the Federal Reserve issued a report saying the use of technology and the production of IT goods since the mid 1990s has accounted for about $50 billion in productivity output every year, contributing about two-thirds of the $70 billion annual productivity gain over the same period" (McGee, 2000, p. 42).
She adds that companies are reporting productivity gains by
improving their business processes, for example, by eliminating the barriers between different business areas. Among the top technologies that contribute to productivity are collaborative software tools, newer PCs, increased network bandwidth, mobile computing devices, and wireless devices (McGee, 2000, p. 42).
