She adds that companies are reporting productivity gains by

improving their business processes, for example, by eliminating the barriers between different business areas. Among the top technologies that contribute to productivity are collaborative software tools, newer PCs, increased network bandwidth, mobile computing devices, and wireless devices (McGee, 2000, p. 42).

The high end users of networking services (the companies in the Fortune 500 range) that spend hundreds of millions of dollars on networking usually have intensive IT staffs and are serviced by the major manufacturers of Networking switches, cards, components, and software.
