there is a lack of high level intellectual functioning in the management of the household, it can be argued that parenting is a job that does require higher levels of intellectual functioning. Cleaning the house is only one aspect of managing a household. In fact, management of the household is the most important force in adult psychological development. Without a home few would have the support and resources to manage any other aspect of their life. Management of the household provides the foundation needed to pursue additional activities that may develop higher level of intellectual functioning. This management provides a beginning and an ongoing demand for growth; parenting is a process that thankfully includes the mundane tasks that ground one during the relentless task of raising children.

3. Intimacy is a concept associated with Erikson's psychosocial stages of development. Intimacy versus isolation is the conflict of the young adult, ages 19 to 40 years. For this stage, the love relationship is the important event. The young adult must now develop an intimate relationship with another or they will have feelings of isolation. If successful, the development of intimacy will lead to the ability to commit openly to another individual. A lack of conflict resolution at earlier stages may affect this stage and the development of intimacy, leading to fear of commitment and retreat from another.

During earlier stages the child develops trust in others, autonomy, initiative, industry, and an identity. This successful development leads to the ability to form intimate relationships. However, a lack of task completion at these stages can lead to mistrust, feelings of self-doubt and shame, guilt, inferiority, and role confusion. Without a positive sense of self-trust in others it is not likely that intimacy is possible. Early negative experiences, such as is found in cases of child abuse or neglect can lead to distrust. ...
