ating. These are my general expectations regarding my initial leadership position. Over time, however, I would like to advance my career through the ranks of increasingly superior leadership and executive roles. Ultimately, I would like to achieve executive status in a forward-looking or learning organization in which self-directed work teams predominate.

According to the Whole Life Values Measure, my most important life values are accomplishment, independence, friendship, forgiving, and courage. My passions consist of much the same items, with the addition of behaving responsibly in all situations in which I find myself at work and in social interactions (including family relationships). I believe that the elements which are most likely to drive my leadership career are my need for accomplishment, responsible behavior, and independent action or autonomy. Further, I would argue that my focus on forgiving and acquiring friendships speaks to the capacity of a transformational leader to empower others and to create opportunities for workers to achieve their own goals and objectives.

With respect to the value of courage, I believe that the forward-looking leader is, as Pierce and Newstrom (2000) have suggested, is a person who is not afraid of change, is flexible, and embraces innovation.
