According to Yahoo Finance (Online) the closing price of the company stock adjusted for dividends and stock splits was $22.36 in April of 2002 when the stock became actively traded, and was $22.05 in October of 2004. JetBlue is a success story in an airline industry in which many major U.S. based carriers are either under bankruptcy protection or are actively considering filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In fact, earlier this week the Chairman of the Board of Delta Airlines admitted that the $500 million in wage concessions he had negotiated with the airlines pilots may not be enough to prevent this carrier from seeking bankruptcy protection. With the exception of a few carriers such as Southwest Airlines and JetBlue, many of America's airlines are have been losing significant amounts of money. The problems they face are daunting.
