If the trend or movement towards inclusion continues, teachers' attitudes are a significant variable to the success of students with special needs. It is important for special and general education teachers to be aware of their attitudes that possibly act as barriers to effective inclusion and optimal learning for all students. Thus additional research is critical and warranted. The findings from this study will enhance the understanding of general education and special education teacher attitudes toward inclusion of special needs students in the general education classroom. This information is important for educators and the guiding of future directions for research. Results of this study can provide data even at the "grass roots level" to assist in educating and enlightening all teachers with respective to inclusive education. As an educator and the researcher of this study, I strongly believe we need this study to grasp teachers' attitudes towards inclusion, which in turn can be used to aid all teachers even if it means returning to point one of introducing inclusion to the educational staff. This introduction could mean starting with a clear definition and grasp of what inclusion is and is not and building on this process. By doing this and creating a partnership amongst the teachers, administrators, parents, and all involved, the attitude and success of inclusion within a particular or all school buildings may emerge.
