As the Blegen (1993, p. 36) study was a meta analysis of other studies, the entire study, in effect, was a review of the literature, and an assessment of the findings reported in that body of literature.
The Blegen and Mueller (1987, pp. 227 228) did include a review of both the theoretical literature related to the concept of job satisfaction, and the critical findings of research investigating job satisfaction among professional nurses.
