POLITICAL, AND ECONOMIC DESCRIPTION

Argentina's contiguous neighbors are Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay. The country's topography ranges from high mountains to heavily wooded plains to fertile and virtually treeless Pampas to an arid plain in the far south. Argentina is the second largest country (in terms of both geography and population) in South America. The country's geographic area is twice that of the largest (geographically) American stateAlaska, while its population is 25 percent greater than that of the largest (population) American stateCalifornia (Paxton, 1990).
