The research to be performed for the proposed study will be based upon historical inquiry and evaluation. The necessary information and data will be collected from published sources, both official and unofficial in origin, and both primary and secondary in character.
Presentation Plan for Study Findings
The findings of the proposed research study will be presented in a six chapter thesis. The planned topical content of these chapters is as follows:
Chapter 1 Introduction: Issue Statement and Research Methodology.
Chapter 2 Historical Development and Contemporary Conditions in Uganda.
Chapter 3 Theoretical Aspects of Mass Media Development.
Chapter 4 Post Independence Mass Media Development in Uganda: 1962 1991.
Chapter 5 Comparison of Mass Media Development in Uganda With That in Neighboring East African Countries.
Chapter 6 Conclusion: Assessment of the Effects on Ugandan Political Development of the Country's Mass Media Experience.
Preliminary versions of the first two chapters are included in this research proposal. The work submitted herewith will be refined for inclusion in the thesis reporting the findings of the proposed research.
HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT AND CONTEMPORARY CONDITIONS IN UGANDA
