Hypnosis is powerful in correcting sexual problems because it allows for focused concentration on both the goal of healthy sexuality (through intervention aimed at extinguishing the symptoms) and on the negative or traumatic influences which contributed to or caused problematic behavior.

Hypnosis allows a person to fully understand his/her own sexuality and to recall past conditionings. It can also be used to reprogram the subconscious mind toward the objective of fuller enjoyment. Thus the conscious mind and the subconscious mind can work together instead of being at odds.

Hypnosis can also be used to enrich an already good sex life by assisting one partner to better adjust to the needs and desires of the other. Through hypnosis, a person can also shift one's sensate focus to have a deeper and more intense orgasm than ever before.

2) Explain the suggestibility factor as it relates to sexuality. What is the difference between suggestibility and sexuality?

Suggestibility is shaped by interaction with one's primary caretaker; this is usually the mother. Suggestibility arises from the learned ability to interpret this caretaker's messages. The method of discipline, whether the caretaker means what she says and says what she means, the caretaker's degree of protectiveness toward the child, the degree of physical attention shown to the child, and the degree to which parents are consistent in their rules and interactions, each of these factors influences a person's degree of suggestibility because each is an input to the child's development of a defense mechanism aimed at avoiding rejection while small. It is this defense mechanism that constitutes one's suggestibility.
