Second, factors which shape suggestibility for a child, can readily be balanced while factors shaping one's sexuality cannot; in other words, a person can be both physically and emotionally suggestible but cannot be both physically and emotionally sexual. The third way in which suggestibility differs from sexuality pertains to the frequency with which people alter the condition. Over time, people can and will alter their created suggestibility, but they will rarely alter their created sexuality.

3) Differentiate between climax and orgasm. Is the inability to achieve orgasm a sexual dysfunction? Explain your reasons why or why not.

Both climax and orgasm are types of sexual release. Climax is shorter in duration and intensity than is orgasm but it does constitute a natural end to sexual stimulation and excitation. If a woman can climax but cannot orgasm, her sexual behavior may be considered functional since there are physiological justifications or bases (e.g. the way the clitoris handles sexual stimulation) for this form of sexual response.

Also, it is very easy for a woman who experiences climax to make the shift over to orgasm, with intervention involving nothing more than an increase in sexual fantasy. In other words, the response is natural and not a dysfunction.

On the other hand, if a woman cannot achieve either climax or orgasm, she may properly be said to be experiencing sexual dysfunction. The diagnosis of sexual dysfunction is given because neither of the natural physical reactions to sexual behavior are happening--that is, the woman is not enjoying sexual stimulation.

Therefore, as to the question of whether the inability to achieve orgasm is a sexual dysfunction, the answer would be that it is a dysfunction if the woman also does not experience climax but the inability to achieve orgasm it is not a dysfunction if t...
