The research replicates some of the conditions used in earlier experiments. It might be designed in a way that suggests what elements in the different forms of music are having the effect--is it the patterning of the sound, is it the rhythm, is it the instrumentation? There are a number of different variables possible in this research, and they need to be separated in some way in order to test which have an effect, which may have a stronger effect, and so on.
