A minimum sample size of 30 firms was sought. The selection of the firms for the sample was based primarily on the availability of and access to the required data.
Student t test procedures were employed to establish the statistical significance of changes in the dependent variables
from the pre employee ownership time point to the post employee ownership time point. Statistical significance was established at p<.05.
The pre employee ownership net profit percent mean for the sample firms was 2.09 percent, while the post employee ownership net profit mean for these firms was 3.59 percent. The t test statistic was 4.784, while the critical value of t was 2.09. Thus, the variance between the pre employee ownership net profit percent mean and the post employee ownership net profit percent mean was statistically significant at p<.05, and, by inference, hypothesis number one was accepted.
