lection time point as 1971 for firms where employee ownership occurred in 1976.

A minimum sample size of 30 firms was sought. The selection of the firms for the sample was based primarily on the availability of and access to the required data.

Student ttest procedures were employed to establish the statistical significance of changes in the dependent variables

from the preemployee ownership time point to the postemployee ownership time point. Statistical significance was established at p<.05.

The preemployee ownership net profit percent mean for the sample firms was 2.09 percent, while the postemployee ownership net profit mean for these firms was 3.59 percent. The ttest statistic was 4.784, while the critical value of t was 2.09. Thus, the variance between the preemployee ownership net profit percent mean and the postemployee ownership net profit percent mean was statistically significant at p<.05, and, by inference, hypothesis number one was accepted.

The sales/equity ratio mean for the sample firms was 4.09 times, while the postemp
